Local Cap Acquires Local-Investing.com

Local Cap is acquiring the URL, content, and analytics of www.Local-Investing.com, a well-known website that contains a breadth of valuable information and resources for local investors and community organizers. The site was built in 2012 by the Local Investing Resource Center, a 501(c)3 organization that recently ceased operations and is now donating its assets to Local Cap.

For several years the site has remained static while regulations and opportunities have evolved, and its outdated design is cumbersome to navigate. Local Cap will revise, re-organize, and re-format the content to make it interactive and easier for potential investors to access up-to-date information and resources. Concurrently, we will develop educational programs and resources for investment advisory professionals to help them better serve their clients who wish to add local investments to their portfolios.

The project is funded by a grant from the Investor Protection Trust (IPT). The IPT is a nonprofit organization devoted to investor education. Since 1993 the IPT has worked with the States to provide the independent, objective investor education needed by all Americans to make informed investment decisions. www.investorprotection.org

In 2020-21, Local Cap will pursue additional grant funding to support this work and to add a section for entrepreneurs and business owners with education and resources on the how-to's of raising local investment capital. In fact, we've recently applied for a We Care 2 grant from VSECU that will be awarded in spring 2020. But we need your help!

Please visit Local Cap's page on VSECU's site and provide testimonials about our programs, services, and impacts in the comments field. The We Care 2 selection committee will use the comments and likes from the community to help guide them through the selection process. Five finalists will then be presented to the VSECU membership on the 2020 annual election ballot in February, at which time voting will take place.
